Imageform / Formimage

While clay remains central to my practice, I have also actively sought out opportunities to explore and integrate diverse media. In my work with digital media artist Robert Campbell at the New Works Laboratory (a 2006 collaborative project between 911 Media Arts Center and the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle), we experimented with a variety of projection techniques. These included projecting videos and animations onto cast porcelain forms, Mylar (a mirror-like film), and an air-like substance called Aerogel comprised of silica a fundamental component in clay. We also created handmade projectors with lenses and used projection mapping techniques to directly project animations onto the ceramic sculptures, a process captured in the experimental works titled “Imageform / Formimage.”
